Guide to Moscow
I hope you packed some warm clothes and a heavy coat! The next stop on the itinerary is Moscow, Russia! Discover freezing Ice and even more challenges from levels 301-400. You’ll also see some friendly Locals as well as the Wonders which need your help to restore them to their original beauty.
Moscow, the Third Rome
After the fall of Constantinople (also known as the Second Rome), Moscow was unofficially nominated as the Third Rome. Moscow is home to many beautiful landmarks, many of which you will see as you travel through the city and discover the Wonders.
Did You Know?
- Moscow is home to more billionaires than any other city in the world. That’s a lot of prosperity in one place!
- The 1980 Summer Olympics was hosted in the city of Moscow. They had a Russian Bear mascot named Misha, which was the inspiration for an animated series named Misha the Little Bear.
- The largest city on the European continent is none other than Moscow, Russia!
Moving Through Moscow
Even at the beginning of the city, you’re going to see some challenges while trying to complete the levels. The newest Obstacle is going to be Ice Cubes, which traps tiles on the board making it difficult for you to break free. Not only that, you’ll still face Obstacles from previous cities! Keep your eyes on the prize and let’s get those tiles crushed!
TIP: Always look over the board before beginning to see if there’s an intentional “starting point”. Sometimes there are tiles or blockers placed purposefully to give you an advantage on that level. Sometimes, it is what you need to break through the Ice.
Ice Cubes and other Obstacles are described in detail in the Blockers of Travel Crush Part 1. You can use this guide to pick up some extra tricks to defeat each level.
Detour with Locals, Moscow Edition
Some of the previous Locals you have met in other cities have returned to show you around the city of Moscow. They show up after some of the levels that end in 5, and can’t be replayed after you beat the level. Each Local will have their amazing content on Tripstagram, showcasing the local cuisine, art, and more!
TIP: You can get rewards for interacting with Tripstagram content every 8 hours, so get into the habit of liking and sharing 5 posts for a free Bolt and Hammer.
Here are the friendly characters you’ll find in Moscow:
Pepper, the Chef
- If you like caviar, Russia is the place for you. Discover rich and hearty cuisine forged by the cold weather and traditions of the people.
Coach, the Athlete
- Russians love their sports, which you can see in their collection of Olympic Medals! A lot of prominent athletes got their start in Russia.
Fauna, the Naturalist
- You’re going to love the views in Moscow! The seasons are temperamental, but that’s where true beauty is found.
Haute, the Fashionista
- The fashion in Russia is more than just fur-lined coats. You’re going to see people dressed to the nines as you look through Haute’s Tripstagram page.
Pepsi, the Pop Star
- Russia’s rich culture is showcased in the posts on Tripstagram. Take a look through a few of them before moving on to the next city!
Henri, the Artiste
- There’s more to Russian art than the famed nesting dolls! There are extraordinary sights that you can see, from intricate designs in the largest Orthodox Church in Russia to the historical paintings of their leaders, the city is full of beauty.
Wonders of Moscow
On every 10th level, you will play a special Wonder level where the objective is to drop the Souvenirs to the bottom of the board. Crush the tiles and clear the blockers to clear the way for them to drop.
TIP: Sometimes a Souvenir will drop down diagonally when something is blocking its way to the bottom. Use this to your advantage when clearing out space.
Wonders and Weekend Tours
Use the Weekend Tours to kick start your Wonder restoration by replaying the levels in the Tour for rewards. After you’re done, beat those levels AGAIN for Gold Stars and unlock the Wonders as you go!
These are the Wonders of Moscow:
Saint Basil’s Cathedral
- Shaped like a bonfire rising into the sky, Saint Basil’s Cathedral is one of the most recognizable symbols of Russia.
Cathedral of Christ the Saviour
- As the second church to reside in this spot, the Cathedral of Christ the Saviour was built to replace another church that was destroyed by Joseph Stalin. The original church took more than 40 years to build!
Bolshoi Theater
- As an iconic landmark of Russia, a picture of the Bolshoi Theater is on the Russian 100 Ruble banknote! It’s the biggest ballet company and one of the oldest in the world.
Gorky Park
- Named after Maxim Gorky, Gorky Park is not only a huge tourist attraction but a site loved by most Muscovites.
International Business Center
- As home to the highest skyscrapers on the continent, the International Business Center is a major financial center in Europe. Some parts are still under construction!
Moscow State University

Zhivopisny Bridge
- Opened on December 27, 2007, Zhivopisny Bridge is the highest cable-stayed bridge in Europe. There was supposed to be a restaurant built in the arch, but that was scratched due to fire concerns.
Kolomenskoye

Flavors of Moscow
- Check out all of the offerings in the Flavors of Moscow Tripstagram and learn about the astronaut program and more.
Ostankino Tower
- For over 50 years, the Ostankino Tower has been the tallest structure in Europe. It held the tallest freestanding structure record for 8 years before being overtaken by the CN Tower!
Obstacles in the City of Moscow
Even though there is only one new blocker in Moscow, it will get extra tricky when it becomes extra frozen! Even more challenging are the Ticking Bombs that require you to break the item inside it, which could be a tile, a Power-up, or even an Obstacle.
Ice Cubes
There are many ways to break through the Ice to free the tile. You can swap tiles to match with the tile inside the Ice Cube, match NEXT to the Ice, or hitting it with a Power-up.
Ice Cube Levels
- Solid Ice Cube: The top tier of Ice Cube, you will have to break it 3 times before it’s gone. Hit it once and it turns to Broken Ice.
- Broken Ice: Cracking through a Solid Ice Cube will break it with only 2 more hits to go. 1 hit and it transforms into Crushed Ice.
- Crushed Ice: The lowest level of an Ice Cube, you only need to hit it once to remove it from the board.
Bolts can be used to zap the colored tile inside the Ice Cube to break it.
TIP: Bombs are good at breaking through Ice Cubes since they have 2 separate detonations!
Ice Strategy:
You can make a patterned match to break through Ice Cubes. However, only Crushed Ice will create the Power-up! Broken and Solid Ice will block the Power-up since the tile is still frozen solid.
Author’s Section
Here are some notes I took while playing the levels of Moscow. Even though I got stuck at some points doesn’t mean you will! RNG is a thing and sometimes Lady Luck does NOT smile down on me. 🙁
Tricky Levels
It seems like I’m a sucker for the Colored Crates because those are the levels that are the most challenging to me.
Level 329
This one took me more than a few tries since I was unable to unchain the two Bolts at the top of the screen.
Level 339
This level does NOT give you much to work with! You only start with a few tiles, and all of the Obstacles are covered by Bricks with Dynamite. The only saving grace is the high number of moves that you’re allowed.
Level 346
Use the Bomb on the lower right-hand corner to unchain the Rocket. Next, use that Rocket to unchain another Rocket. Then use that Rocket to unchain yet another Rocket. Last, use that Rocket to break through Crates which will drop tiles down to that side of the board.
Level 355
I almost ran through my lives trying to beat this level! I had to use 2 +5 moves boosts to clear all of the Grass! Starting with a Power-up isn’t as useful at this level since the Grass is unreachable at the beginning.
Luck Was on My Side
Here are some levels that I beat with sheer luck! Fate was smiling down on me and handed me the perfect set of tiles to craft a Power-up, or there was a chain reaction leading to the win.
Level 305
The Ice at the bottom of the board is easy enough to break through, but you have to do it quickly so you can start clearing tiles on the top. If you’ve read the 10 Tips to Getting Started in Travel Crush, you’ll remember that the bottom of the board isn’t always at the bottom of the screen! The Portals that are underneath the tiles covered in ice will drop the tiles from the corresponding Portal on the top! Break the Ice and use Rockets to help clear the Grass on the top half of the board.
Level 348
Not only do you have to break through Ice, but you have to remove Chains, clear the Grass, and then free the Octopus. Matching a Bolt with either a Rocket or Bomb works WONDERS.
Take the Challenge
When you get to some of these levels, let me know what you think on social media! Were they easier for you than they were for me? If you’ve already passed these levels, take a second (or third) go at it to see if I just had some rotten luck and you can do it better. You’ll also get some bonus Silver and Gold Stars to use for restoring Wonders. 😉
Do svidaniya, Moscow!
It’s time to leave Moscow and continue onwards. Come back for the next stop: Barcelona, Spain! There’s more sand than what’s on the beaches as there’s a cunning new Obstacle to be found there.
Don’t worry, you can replay any levels in Moscow to earn those sweet Silver and Gold Stars!
